The year of 2017 is the year of our new president Donald Trump. However even though it has upset many, a few of our Yellowjacket family members were able to go on this once in a lifetime trip to the inauguration. As this trip was conducted not only did they go to the inauguration they went to museums, and were able to witness the famous Women’s March. As this trip was taking the place the people on this trip were honored to go and were so enthusiastic to be a part of history.

Even though the inauguration of Donald Trump was the main focus of this trip most of the travelers could agree on one thing, their favorite part was the Women’s March. Colton High School Senior Lanijah Williams stated “Despite not actually being in the march, you could feel the power emanating from all the protesters.’’ Even though this was a Women’s March, many men were inspired while there. Senior Antonio Cervantes says “The most memorable moment was being able to see the women’s march with my own eyes.” The women’s march was extremely inspirational to many across the united states. The Women’s March included many famous celebrities such as Madonna advocating for feminism. While in D.C., California held multiple marches everywhere from  San Francisco to Los Angeles.

The overall experience for these lucky students would be one they would always remember. All the people who went were all ecstatic to go experience this once in a lifetime experience. Williams said, “I realized it was a once in a lifetime opportunity that I would not regret.” Cervantes said, “I’ve seen them on TV, and to be there is a whole other experience.” As seen in both of their faces this was a trip that is very close and dear to them due to the fact it is one of the most intense electrons of the century. Even though they felt the trip was amazing, there wasn’t enough time to do everything. Williams and Cervantes said they wish they could’ve seen more and gone deeper in the museums. The museums in Washington DC are some of the most renowned in the world. Williams stated “The one thing I wish I could’ve done differently was tour the holocaust museum fully or the african american museum.” Cervantes similarly stated that he would have liked “to be able to see more museums and memorials such as the Smithsonian.”
