Madison Barrera is fired up to win

Madison Barrera is the Queen of the Court. The Basketball court, that is. But she’s working hard to become the Queen of Homecoming too. 

She’s a Senior and avid athlete on both of Colton High School’s varsity softball and girls’ basketball teams. Having lettered twice in her high school career was no easy feat for her. 

“I feel like I managed to make varsity on both teams because I work hard and I always push myself to do better,” Madison said, “Something that motivated me was just to make my parents proud.”

Madison is in it to win it when it comes to her sports. Last year her varsity softball team made it to the third round of the CIF softball playoff tournament, and she couldn’t be more proud of herself and her teammates. 

For an athlete like her, it’s only natural for her to be extremely competitive on and off the basketball courts and softball fields. 

Madison’s competitiveness has motivated her to keep playing and make her parents proud. 

Her parents are undying in their support of their daughter’s efforts to win Homecoming Queen.   

“Shoutout to my parents, because they helped me make my posters,” she said. “And to my friends that wore my pins.”

Madison loves her friends and their support, but she also looks forward to making new friends along the way that will vote for her next Tuesday. 

Madison’s values of friends and making great impressions on people prompts her to keep her friends close… and enemies closer.

“I really want to win but I know I have some stiff competition. So whatever happens, happens.”

Getting to know your opponents is important to any sport, and so is showing great sportsmanship. 

Madison lives to win, but also acts with integrity by showing her fellow nominees support with their campaigns.

The big game is coming next week. Madison’s ready to go and receive her crown at halftime.
