Pepper Bough experiments with Homecoming nomination

The Pepper Bough has decided to utilize our granted power of nominating candidates for homecoming court for selfish purposes: a good story.

The object of our nomination is to test whether or not a student-run organization like our publication can successfully influence the decision of our student body.

In the selection of our homecoming candidate, the Pepper Bough did not have any set criteria. A crucial part of our experiment is to promote an individual who does not already have a significant presence on campus. In other words, a person other than the star quarterback or another already well-known figure.

Our online publication, which will be launching in the near future, will feature a running story following the campaign of our selected nominee.

Now, without any further delay, it is my pleasure to introduce our homecoming candidate: Logan Estrada.

Estrada is a 17 year-old senior who moved back to Colton in June after spending his first three years of high school in Tennessee, hence the appropriate lack of a distinguished presence on campus. Estrada was actually born in California, but spent kindergarten and first grade in Tennessee and then second through eighth grade here in Colton. He expressed that there was difficulty the first two times he moved, but the times following that were easier for him to deal with.

Estrada enjoys playing soccer and paint balling. He has also been a member of JROTC since freshmen year. Estrada plans to join the Marines following graduation, hoping to seek a position as a designated marksman or a member of the Special Forces.

“I was inspired to become a Marine by my dad and my uncle who are both Marines,” Estrada shared.

Our Goal

Recently, the CHS Publications Department experienced a major theft as over $20,000 in photography equipment was stolen from our studio over Spring Break. This included all cameras. Any amount you donate will help rebuild our program. Thank you!
