In 2012, student musician/prankster Zane Preciado paid visits to classrooms, serenading people with the sax riff of George Michael’s classic “Careless Whisper.”

Colton High School opened in 1895. It is one of the oldest high schools in the Inland Empire. In this daily feature, we celebrate Colton High’s rich history.

In February 2012, senior Zane Preciado got crazy for the Valentine’s Day season. The musician sold “Sax Grams.” For a nominal fee, he would show up and play George Michael’s classic “Careless Whisper” on saxophone for the intended audience. Completely sold on the bit, Preciado wore an 80s leather vest over his shirtless torso, a red bowtie, and a fedora. YouTube videos have Preciado strutting around campus during lunch, and interrupting classes to deliver the clever, unprecedented jazz-pop expressions of love.
