Colton High School opened in 1895. It is one of the oldest high schools in the Inland Empire. In this daily feature, we celebrate Colton High’s rich history.

In 1989, students at Colton High were put on notice for their public displays of affection when administration reminded them that the “Affection Policy was still alive and well.” Apparently, students making out across campus had become epidemic, and needed to be addressed.

The policy, which had been in the school rules for several years, prohibited kissing and other forms of public affection, with the only exception being hand holding.
