Colton High “Fact of the Day” – Jan. 20
Colton High School opened in 1895. It is one of the oldest high schools in the Inland Empire. In this daily feature, we celebrate Colton High’s rich history.
In May 1982, CHS started the “Campus Clean-up” work program. Students were hired to work two hours a day, five days a week from 2:30-4:30 p.m. after school.
A variety of jobs were required from student employees, including weed pulling, sweeping broken glass, picking up trash, and other jobs as needed to keep the campus clean. Activities Director Chuck Faren shared with the Pepper Bough: “We’re short on groundsmen, and we’ll hopefully improve the appearance of the school.”
Six positions were made available. Those hired were: Tom Eftim, Santiago Esquivias, Terri Hall, David Pearman, Gilbert Ramirez, and Ralph Valenzuela.
Recently, the CHS Publications Department experienced a major theft as over $20,000 in photography equipment was stolen from our studio over Spring Break. This included all cameras. Any amount you donate will help rebuild our program. Thank you!
