Colton High School opened in 1895. It is one of the oldest high schools in the Inland Empire. In this daily feature, we celebrate Colton High’s rich history.

The Colton High School library was originally built on campus in 1957. It cost an estimated $115,000. The librarian at the time, Minnie Bishop, was excited to receive a new facility that included a conference room, teachers’ reading room, and a librarian’s office as well as the capacity to hold 120 students.

The previous library only had room for 36, which is the currently the largest any class on campus can be that isn’t band, choir, or physical education. The old library was converted into classrooms.
