Colton High School opened in 1895. It is one of the oldest high schools in the Inland Empire. In this daily feature, we celebrate Colton High’s rich history.

In April 1943, as the U.S. forces fought the Nazis in Europe, students at Colton High, led by Wendell Lansing, ran a stamp and bond drive to raise funds for the war effort. The classes competed, with the senior class raising the most money. The bond drive raised $13,267 overall, which, according to the Pepper Bough, was enough to buy 14 jeeps for the military.
