Colton High School opened in 1895. It is one of the oldest high schools in the Inland Empire. In this daily feature, we celebrate Colton High’s rich history.

In 1958, the Memorial Field and Stadium was dedicated. A 19-ton limestone boulder was donated by the Colton branch of the California Portland Cement Company. A bronze plaque was placed into the boulder, dedicating it to the Colton High students who died in service of the U.S. armed forces during World War II and the Korean conflict. This boulder still lives in Yellowjacket Stadium on the home side of stadium.
