Colton High School opened in 1895. It is one of the oldest high schools in the Inland Empire. In this daily feature, we celebrate Colton High’s rich history.

The nickname “Yellowjackets” made its first appearance in the October 2, 1926 issue of The Colton Daily Courier. The news item read, “Colton’s yellowjacket varsity, as they were named by the C.U.H.S. yell leaders, defeated the Chaffey tigers . . .”
