The Devil at all Time – Review

Leslie Huerta

The Devil At All Time” is a very interesting film with a very unique twist. With the movies being recently released on the sixteenth, this two hour crime, drama, and thriller movie is definitely something. The movie contains a very talented cast, with actors such as; Robert Pattinson, Tom Holland, Bill Skarsgård, Sebastian Stan, and so many other amazing actors.

The movie takes place in a small town in West Virginia and Ohio. Following the life of Willard Russel and his son early in the movie. After Russel’s unfortunate passing, his son, Arvin, needs to grow up with childhood trauma and his own personal conflicts.

The movie let alone has a very dark spin on the religious connection between individuals. However, the plot let alone is based on the dark deaths of Arvin’s loved ones. Not to mention the very interesting spin towards the end of the movie. The setting and plot definitely helped set up the dark and sadistic tone of the movie. The movie itself does not have any melancholic sentiment, most of it is set up to be a thriller film and leave viewers on edge.

Like many other films, “The Devil All The Time” does have some things to point out. Some of these things being the way religion is portrayed. Some viewers could see this to be a bit off-putting because of the big part religion plays in this film. To add to this, there are suggestive themes throughout the movie. These two common critiques can have a play on the movies ‘R’ rating. Viewers should also be open to a handful amounts of violence. Another thing to add is the slow progression of the film. There are times throughout the movie that felt like things were moving really slowly until the end.

The Devil All The Time is a really interesting spin on crime. It has a very well planned out plot, and I would definitely recommend to give the film a try.
