Good Time Movie Review

Good Time Movie Review

Leslie Huerta

Directed by the Safdie brothers, Good Time is an exceptionally good film, with the very short but talented cast including; Robert Pattinson, Benny Safdie, Buddy Duress, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Taliah Webster.

The one hour forty two minute Crime and drama film follows Connie and his mentally challenged brother Nick after the events of a failed bank robbery attempt in New York City. Nick is eventually arrested and the remainder of the movie follows Connie’s trials and tribulations to get his brother back.

Good Time is by far one of the most interesting crime films I’ve seen, there is an interesting twist in the plot yet this doesn’t make it hard to follow at all. The characters are smoothly built throughout the film and we get to have enough background about them to have a personal connection with them.

Like the Safdie brother’s other works like Uncut Gems (2019), this film is no exception on the interesting cinematography it has to offer. The colours and film shots throughout the film are electrifying, including the plot advancement, this movie has so much to offer and so much to tell. From the very strong connection between the two siblings to tensions rising between conflicting characters, there is enough content to allow the viewers to feel a variety of emotions.

Unlike every other movie, something that many viewers had a tough time getting around was mature content between two of the characters in the film. Suggesting the movie’s ‘R’ rating, viewers should watch the movie with the ideas of violence, drug use, language, and mature content.

Good Time is a very well thought out film directed by the Safdie brothers. Its unique storyline and plot twists are enough to keep the audience engaged for quite a long time. I would definitely recommend it to film lovers and to those who are open to a new perspective on crime movies.
