On February 18, 2018, at the 67th NBA all-star game Fergie performed the National Anthem; many of the players laughed as well as the crowd in Los Angeles, California. Fergie explained the Monday after the game and addressed her approach while performing the National Anthem. She said she was, “Honored and proud to perform the National Anthem.” Fergie also said, she loves her country and that as a singer she wanted to take an artistic approach with the National Anthem and try something different. Fergie’s purpose was to have her own personal version of the “Star Spangled Banner.” Just like Marvin Gaye, who also performed at a NBA All-Star game in 1983 and has gone down in history!
