Back in 2014 Ackquille Jean Pollard (or as well we all know him, Bobby Shmurda) was arrested in sting operation tied to several drug-dealing syndicates and at least one murder.

Police said the rapper, just 20 years old at the time, was a “driving force” behind several shootings and an important figure in gang that allegedly distributed drugs throughout Pollard’s native Brooklyn. Now, it looks as though the 22 year old will spend many of the best years of his life in prison.

Pollard has maintained his innocence since his arrest in December 2014, just five months after his release of his first and only hit single “Hot N**ga.”

Shmurda insists that he was framed by the arresting officers, who were furious about the anti-police nature of his lyrics. The cops who arrested him however, claim the Bobby Shmurda had a gun in his hand when they burst into his New York City apartment with a warrant. One investigator says the the songs recorded by Shmurda and his crew were “almost like a real-life document of what they were doing on the streets.” in the almost two years since his arrest, several celebrities have taken up Pollard’s cause, with some of them even sporting “Free Bobby Shmurda” T-shirts at major events.

Shmurda attorney, Alex Spiro, reportedly declined to comment on the case on September 9, 2016. So that makes sense why he decline to comment about it
