Music Streaming Wars

How do you stream your music? Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal? If you use any of these streaming services, you likely know these companies are competing with each other. Tidal is owned by rapper Jay-Z, Spotify is owned by Troy Carter, and Apple Music is owned by Jimmy Lovine.

These companies compete with each other in various ways, but one of the biggest competitions is the artists that they have supporting/signed to them. Under Apple Music they have artists such as Drake, Frank Ocean, and Travis Scott. Tidal has Kanye West, Rihanna, Jay-Z. With Spotify, they do not have any exclusive deals with anybody, but the owner Troy Carter has managed artists like Lady Gaga.

With Spotify not having any artists, Apple Music and Tidal have angered them since they have their own artists signed to them, meaning that Spotify is not able to allow people stream their music from their servers. By them having their own artists, it is making people angry because they are not able to stream the music they want with one streaming service. By them not being able to use one service, it means the more money that the people have to pay because each of these streaming servers cost an average of $9.99.

Rapper, Kanye West, was quoted saying, “this Tidal Apple beef, is f*****g up the music game.” Many people who just want to stream and listen to music on one app also feel this way.

But at the end of the day, each company is being used by many people around the world, and are just being aggressive as possible to get customers. Are you Team Tidal, Team Apple, or Team Spotify?
