Destiny: The Taken King video game debuts to mixed reviews

“Boring, repetitive, nothing to do, and a waste of money.” These were all things that some  people felt Destiny was after it was dropped on gamers almost a year ago with a load of hype attached to it, and rightfully so. The game was being developed by Bungie, the creator of one of the most successful first person shooters in the last ten years, Halo. People felt that the game was lacking in many aspects regarding story and its lack of mission variety which paled in comparison to their past games. Although its first year has been riddled with countless problems within, Bungie hopes to solve and evolve their game this September. On September 15, Destiny will release its third expansion, The Taken King.

Many Destiny players have who have played since the beginning of Destiny will get the chance of playing with new DLC release and have waited almost a year for  this expansion pack. Although ostracized by fans and critics alike for many of its shortcoming a year ago, The Taken King hopes to solve these problems by adding a host of new content. Aside from the usual new weapons, armor, and missions, Bungie hopes to deliver more gameplay variety with their new playable area, the Dreadnaught. The Dreadnaught is described by some as large castle in the sky which is home to the expansion’s titular villain, Oryx. The appearance of Oryx, caused by the death of his son Crota, will bring the introduction of Destiny’s third raid, Kings Fall. Bungie stated that they hope for it to be their largest raid yet which will include new mechanics and challenges for characters to overcome.  They have also introduced smaller, community driven, changes to the game such as larger vault space for their character and new leveling system. An introduction of 8 new multiplayer maps are also contained as well as new incentives for those pvp centered players. The Taken King hopes to deliver on these promises and more when it’s released on September 15 for these platforms: PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
