Star Wars is one of the greatest sci-fi movie series ever, and now the saga continues with Episode 7. And the Force is Great with This One, as Yoda might say.

After Disney bought Lucasfilm in 2012 from George Lucas,  they started planning to continue the Star Wars series. Well-known director J.J. Abrams (Lost, Star Trek) will be directing the film; he started casting last year August. Over 30,000 people turned in online applications to be in the film. 37,000 people attended casting calls in 11 cities in the United States as well as the United Kingdom.

The film will pick up from Episode 6 of the original trilogy, Return of the Jedi. The main leads are new characters in the story, Thomas and Rachel. Out of 67,000 people, Pip Anderson got the role of Thomas and Crystal Clarke got the role of Rachel. Mark Hamill (now 62 years old) from the original Star Wars trilogy will be returning to play his former role of Luke Skywalker in the new film. Carrie Fisher (now 57 years old) will also be returning to play her former role as Princess Leia Organa. Other characters from the original trilogy will be returning as well: Anthony Daniels (now 68 years old) reprises his role as C-3PO, Peter Mayhew (now 70 years old) returns as Chewbacca. An who can forget tiny Kenny Baker (now 80 years old) as R2-D2? He’s back as well. Harrison Ford (now 71 years old) will also be playing his former role as Han Solo, but suffered a broken leg while filming for the new movie. Although Ford is injured, he will still be in the film.

Now that Disney has taken over the production of the film, many Star Wars fans have their doubts on how the film will come out and then there are some that just can’t wait for the film to be released. The film is to hit theaters December of 2015, and Star Wars fans from around the world will be waiting.
