ScHoolboy Q Album Review

ScHoolboy+Q+Album+Review

All over twitter, Facebook, and other social Medias has been talk of schoolboy Q’s new album “Oxymoron.”

Schoolboy Q created all this hype by saying it was better than Kendrick Lamar’s album “good kid, mad city” which was released on October 22, 2012. He told a reporter “Kendrick might be the good kid in a mad city but I’m the bad kid in a good city.” He was not only around what Kendrick was rapping about in his album but he was involved in it. He sold drugs as a teen to provide for his own needs and that is what he raps about most of the time.

He had artists featured such as; jay rock, Kendrick Lamar, 2 Chainz, BJ Chicago Kid, Tyler the Creator, Kurupt, and Raekwon.

Q starts off his album with “Gangsta.” In the beginning of the track he has his daughter’s voice come on, like she is speaking to him. He has his daughter involved a lot in the album, not only is she in the front and the back of the album but she is in his “breaking bank” music video.

The song that followed “Gangsta” was “los awesome” which has to be one of the best songs on his album, not because of the context of his lyrics but because of the beat. Schoolboy Q has very authentic beats.

There has been a lot of discussion is “Oxymoron” beat out “good kid, mad city” but the truth is it didn’t. kendrick’s  lyrics are meaningful and his beats are on point. Although, schoolboy’s beats are crazy good it feels as if he didn’t go deep enough to his emotions to connect with his audience.

“Oxymoron”  is a great album and I encourage everyone to go out and buy it.
