Kendrick Lamar separates himself from the rest with new album

I’m sure you’ve heard of Kendrick Lamar and the buzz of his new album Good Kid, m.A.A.d City, which holds up to 15 different tracks. Good kid, m.A.A.d City marks Lamar’s first release on major labels such as Interscope Records and Aftermath Entertainment.

The first voices are murmured in prayer, “Thank you, Lord Jesus, for saving us with your precious blood,” they are repenting of sins, asking for Jesus to save them and for Him to take control of their lives. Lamar, growing up living in the rough, gang-ridden city of Compton, chose not to be involved in gangs, which usually leaves one dead. Voice mails are played throughout the album, mainly of and from his family. This album shows that family and faith are not ghostly concepts, but that they are the main reason of Lamar being held back from the gang violence that threatened to consume his childhood. His family played a big role in his life.

In a rap game that is hard for a rapper to go through and become successful, he wins the hearts and ears of many listeners.

Dr. Dre himself passed the torch to Lamar naming him the heir to the throne of West Coast rap. With the help of the best producers Lamar was able to portray a story of a good kid in a mad city.  He manages to hold everything together in the closest of such chaos through his lyrics. Lamar is an amazing rap artist; he might be the best of this generation. The lyrics and rhythm Lamar pulls into a track is pure genius because it catches you and makes you want to listen for more.

His album is one of the most talked about of 2012. Lamar is truly a talented artist whose lyrics paint a vivid picture while you’re listening. I am looking forward to purchasing and listening to his next album.
