“The Possession”: good old fashioned Hollywood chills

The horror movie “The Possession” is a must-see and one of the best scary movies I’ve seen in a while! It doesn’t leave you confused or feeling like you just wasted two hours of life on something stupid and pointless. It does what a scary movie is meant to do, scare you!

A divorced couple, Clyde and Stephanie (Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Kyra Sedgwick), have joint custody of their two girls. One weekend when the girls are with their dad, they go to a yard sale and Em (Natasha Calis) finds interest in an old, antique box with Hebrew engravings. Little does Em or her father, Clyde, know that in the box is an old demon that seeks to possess the innocent.

The film made me scream, laugh, almost pee, and truly scared! The music gives you chills and the whole movie leaves you in fear. This is one of the best scary movies I’ve seen in a while because it didn’t use three thousand pounds of obvious fake blood or weird masks with annoying, half-naked girls screaming. It’s about the possession of the innocent without reason, which leaves the audience thinking, “Does possession really exist?”

I recommend this movie for anyone who likes scary movies, doesn’t want to sleep for a few nights, or is interested in the concept of possession and exorcisms.

Recently, the CHS Publications Department experienced a major theft as over $20,000 in photography equipment was stolen from our studio over Spring Break. This included all cameras. Any amount you donate will help rebuild our program. Thank you!
