The LadyJacket JV Basketball team started off the second semester with a blowout loss to the Fontana Steelers, 35-15, leaving Fontana without the victory. It was a truly competitive game which would determine who was the most dominant team.

At the beginning of the game, Fontana was the one to strike first as they hit multiple layups and threes to try to get the Colton team down and out early. However, that did not bring Colton down for long as a lay-up was served by Freshman Shooting Guard, Yesenia Bermejo, to get the team on a flow. Although the offensive flow was going for Colton, it wasn’t enough to end the first period with the lead.

With the start of the second quarter, Colton’s defense was definitely strong as the JV girls made sure that Fontana would not score for a majority of the quarter. They made sure they would not score, and pressured them, and even trapped a player so they would not shoot to score. However, the Steelers found a gap in the defense they started making it rain with with three pointers, which ended the first half.

After halftime, the score slowly started to change as time moved on as Colton went to only being eight points behind. All this was all happening just in the 3rd period. Then the score was 33-15. Colton was really behind at this point in the game, looking to dig out of the hole that they were in.  Then you see a new expression on all of the team, knowing what they have to do to win this game. Then Colton started to taking the ball away from Fontana, passing the ball to Bermejo aiming for a lay-up, them the ball started to to whirl on the rim of the basketball net, getting the score. Within a matter of seconds, the ball fell out of the basket giving the rebound to Fontana High letting them score. Then, the final buzzer rang giving the audience, saying that was the end of the game, giving the Fontana audience something to cheer for.
