Girls Tennis Season Wrap Up

Chantz Horton, Reporter

The 2016-17 school year has been a rollercoaster for sports. From football to soccer all the way to volleyball this has been a very emotional year for seniors. The tennis team with Head Coach Terry Urban had a season filled with both wins and losses but are proud to have had this season. He will never forget about the girls on this team as for this season they weren’t the best but they showed Colton has heart and will play until the very end.

This wasn’t the best season in the history of Colton High School. The girls Varsity team finished the season with 2 wins. For the singles competition, four players from Colton made it to the second round of prelims, that consisting of Seniors Lauren Campos and Andrea Gutierrez. As for Doubles competition, both Veronica De La Rosa and Lexus Plama made it to second round of prelims for double, leaving Urban with a huge smile. As the tennis team played their hearts out this season Urban was happy to say he coached this season when he witnessed first hand how much the girls truly love this sport.

Senior night was a night to remember but a game to forget. As Urban was very emotional to see his seniors go in their last game, he announced all their names and each girl received a love filled sunflower, the seniors of the team all we teary eyed as they played their final match however they were unable to pull out the victory. As the boys tennis season approached the boys are preparing this year for a great season as the boys will give it their all and do everything they can to make Coach Michael Macias proud.
