Colton wrestling gets the Loss after a close battle with GT

YellowJacket Wrestling faced off in a big matchup against its longtime rival the Grand Terrace Titans on Wednesday, January 27th. Steven Alinis, heavyweight wrestler, weighing in at 265, said about the matchup, “I expect to take the match against Grand Terrace High School. (I’m) feeling confident about this match, knowing it will be challenging.” He also mentions what inspires him to wrestle: “I am inspired by my football coaches, as they encourage me to continue wrestling. I am also doing it because it will make me a better football player.” In his first year in wrestling, Alinis’s current record is 2-1.

Senior Robert Morales was up next against his opponent. He had much energy walking in the match ready to take the win. So he comes up and tries to bring down his opponent but doesn’t happen the crowd goes crazy for Morales but he gets pinned and loses the match. He pinned his opponent down a couple of times, but couldn’t hang on, tying the game.

In the final match, Colton’s Alinis was the last one up as it was tied at 33. The crowd was on its feet as they were hyped for the final competition. Down on his knees in position ready to do a reversal but Alinis fails–he’s pinned on the floor time going down, ending the night with a loss to Grand Terrace, 36-33.
