Rivalry between Titans and Lady Jackets Basketball ends in Loss

It was rivalry season as the Varsity Lady Jackets took on long time rival Grand Terrace High in a classic back-and-forth battle. In the end, the Lady Jackets fell, 48-28.

This was a game that had all the ingredients of determination and drive as both teams put on a show for the people of Colton. The Colton Varsity girls, coming back after two straight losses, were looking to get a win in their home court.

The first half was the spark of what would end up as a close game as both Colton and Grand Terrace fired shots at each other, trying to determine who would be on top. Both teams would use tremendous defense and a high-octane offense, getting the crowd on its feet. Junior Trinique Jonzun gave major contributions to the team that half as she rallied up 7 points and a accredited assist.  However, when it came to halftime, the Titans lead with a slight advantage, 22-15.

After halftime, both teams continued what they started in the first half by throwing up basket after basket to see who would lead first. Both Junior Alexis Avecedo and Senior Brianna Garcia helped with the ongoing war as they put a combined 9 points to keep the team in contention for the “W.” Unfortunately, after four quarters, the Titans were too much and the Lady Jackets ended with a loss, adding 3 to their losing streak.
