You often hear Colton High disparaged around campus, and even around town. They say we’re ghetto, we don’t care, we’re just a bunch of…well, you get the idea. But every once in a while a gesture of kindness and class so profound emerges that gives a lie to all those negative stereotypes of Colton. Such an act occurred at last week’s Prom.
You may have heard that at the Prom Dance, Uriel (rhymes with Cereal–we saw the T-shirts!) Gonzalez was crowned Prom King. We at the Pepper Bough would like to take this opportunity to congratulate him and his queen, Marcilena Valenzuela. But for those of you who weren’t there or haven’t heard, Gonzalez presented his Prom King crown to the Pepper Bough’s own Nathan Morgan, our Sports Editor and a member of Prom Court. We thought this act of selflessness on Uriel’s part was very generous and inspiring, and exactly what is meant by the phrase, “Stay Classy, Colton High.”
Uriel proved to everyone, everywhere, that class resides at Colton High.
