President Barack Obama was elected once again into office and has promised to bring back the nation from the recession.
After being elected for his second and final term, defeating Mitt Romney, Obama will now face his greatest challenge ever, the “fiscal cliff.” Obama will have to do more than ever in these next four years.
Republican House Speaker John Boehner has stated that he will actually work with Obama to ensure that our nation does not go over the “cliff.” However, some, including myself, are a little doubtful that a republican will in fact work with a democratic president.
On November 8th, Boehner openly stated that he and the president were now on the same terms, and pledges to work together to avoid the “cliff.” Boehner announced that he would act as long as things were steered toward spending cuts and reforms and such.
With any luck, these statements will be held up to and not be completely false.
I certainly hope so. When Obama was elected, other nations, China in particular, were cheering. While our economy will sink like a stone, China’s will skyrocket, “putting us in chains.”
