Teams sharing busses the new normal with $$ cuts

Sharing school busses have been one of the most talked (and complained) about topics among Colton Yellowjacket athletes. Many of the teams, including volleyball and tennis, have had to share buses to and from their away games.

Some of the girls from both teams have shared that they don’t like the situation. “It’s too crowded, I mean it’s not like they can change it but I just don’t like being squished,” says one athlete. On average everyone either doesn’t like the arrangements or says that they can’t change it, so why complain?

But not everyone knows why we need to share busses. Some think it may be because of budget cuts. Most of our cuts have been in the sports or performing arts areas on our campus. The athletic director, Scott Sunderland, has said that one of the hardest jobs as the new AD has been dealing with the cuts. Unfortunately, we’re stuck with sharing busses.

Apart from the downs this situation also has its upside; a lot of the girls on both teams have used this as an opportunity to pep each other up. Almost everyone on each team have said or expressed their wishes for good luck towards the other team. And even if someone doesn’t do as well as they had hoped they still show each other appreciation and comfort. So good luck Yellowjackets , we know you can get through this!

Our Goal

Recently, the CHS Publications Department experienced a major theft as over $20,000 in photography equipment was stolen from our studio over Spring Break. This included all cameras. Any amount you donate will help rebuild our program. Thank you!
