A small plane randomly crashes in Riverside in a residential area killing three people on Monday, February 27.

Air traffic control tower at Riverside Municipal Airport received a call from a small plane

The pilot reported that the engine was the issue and he didn’t think he would make it to safe landing. The plane was seen on camera falling from the sky, crashing. The home, in the 6000 block of Rhonda Road about a half-mile from  the airport, was quickly consumed in flames fiery incident.

The people on the plane were Nouri Hijazi, 83; Dana Hijazi, 67; and Adine Farelas, 22 of San Jose. Nouri Hijazi had flown the plane to watch his granddaughter’s cheerleading competition at the Disneyland Resort.

Right after takeoff, however, his small Cessna caused fire and damage for three houses in residential Riverside, killing him, his wife and Farelas.

“He was an extremely experienced pilot, which was his hobby, his passion,” Christy Crown, sister-in-law of the Hijazis’ daughter Stacey Pierce, said on Wednesday. “We want to say how incredibly devastated and heartbroken we are and still trying to process everything.”

The cause of what happened with the plane has still not been completely figured out. Two were transported with injuries while others weren’t fortunate enough to survive.
