CHS holds active shooter drill

Brandon Torres

Tuesday, February 28, Colton High School had an active shooter drill to help the students become familiar with the procedure that should be carried out in this situation. The school had someone dress up as the shooter and come on campus. Anyone who saw the shooter, whether they be a student or staff, were responsible for reporting them. The drill happened during second period; I happened to be in Mrs. Dickerson’s class. We blockaded the doors as we were instructed to, then we hid in the kitchens furthest from the doors. Mrs. Dickerson advised us to silence and turn off our phones, which the class did. We heard the gunshots over the intercom and turned off the lights. The drill was a positive thing for us because it gave us an idea of what to do in case of such an event.
