Fear the WASC!

Crystal Martinez, reporter

Recently Colton High School has been visited by the WASC committee. “WASC” stands for the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. The WASC committee consists of teachers, principals, etc. They come to different schools and decide whether or not they should be accredited. According to their website “accreditation is a voluntary dual-purpose process that schools (1) must be worthy of the trust placed in them to provide high-quality learning and (2) clearly demonstrate continual self-improvement.”

The committee had entered every classroom on campus to see if students are getting the proper education and values needed by graduation. By us being being accredited we make a “statement to the broader community and the stakeholders that it is trustworthy institution for student learning and committed to ongoing improvement.’

The report in which WASC will tell us our list of accreditation will be released soon.
