This banner, featuring 2011 senior Cesar Robles, was part of the PRAXIS “Excellence Campaign” that worked at Colton High School starting in Jan. 2010.

Four of Colton High School’s staff and students were recognized for the first time ever PRAXIS “Excellence Campaign” Award.  The recipients were English teacher Heidi Wilson, vocational education tutor Valerie Holmes, senior Cesar Robles and senior Berenice Villa.

The PRAXIS Inland Empire Project “Excellence Campaign” was designed to inspire excellence in our schools and community.  Dr. Louis F. Rodriquez, the Principal Investigator of the PRAXIS Project, states that, “We strongly believe that it is necessary to deliberately recognize and celebrate people who go above and beyond to improve themselves and the student community.  As you many know, more students need to succeed at CHS, graduate from high school, go to college, and become leaders in their communities.  In order to make this happen, our students, teachers, parents, and other community members need to recognize the great things happing every single day.  The research shows that high expectations, role models, strong student-teacher relationships, and believing our students will succeed can result in academic success and strong communities. “

The award recipients had their pictures taken for posters that were printed in recognition of their accomplishments.  The awards were presented at the February 16th School Board meeting.  The recipients’ biographies were read to those in attendance. They .were also congratulated and received certificates by the board and representatives from various Assembly and Congressional offices.  Dr. Ernie Garcia was also recognized as a member of the Colton community.

Congratulations to these individuals on displaying excellence.

Our Goal

Recently, the CHS Publications Department experienced a major theft as over $20,000 in photography equipment was stolen from our studio over Spring Break. This included all cameras. Any amount you donate will help rebuild our program. Thank you!
