There has been much controversy over the fact that the iPhone SE looks almost 100% identical to the iPhone 5s which didn’t differ much from the 2012 design–a design that Apple quoted as “beloved” on their website when describing the new iPhone SE.

Ars Technica quotes that “the iPhone SE is an apology to big-phone haters everywhere.” Apple has reinvented the iPhone and released the “most powerful 4-inch phone ever,” according to an Apple press release.

One of the big questions here is the price. By launching a 4-inch phone, no matter how fancy it is, consumers will expect it to be a little cheaper and thankfully that’s what Apple has done. It is said to be more affordable than a ‘new’ iPhone.

The iPhone SE’s new features consist of an A9 chip, the same advanced chip that’s in the iPhone 6s. This chip allows the phone to track your steps and distance as well as making it easier to to activate Siri simply by saying “Hey Siri” without even picking up your iPhone. The iPhone SE carries a 12-megapixel iSight camera, also the same feature that the iPhone 6s holds. The camera includes a 4K video, which is up to four times the resolution of 1080p HD video. The iPhone SE contains the latest new iPhone features like live photos, touch ID, Apple pay, and iCloud Photo Library. Is bigger always better? Apple has yet to prove themselves.
