Vans Warped Tour’s 21st year

Manuel Solorzano, Reporter

It’s almost been one year since we last were graced by the sound of the best alternative, punk, and pop rock bands. Starting on June 24, the Vans Warped Tour will return for its 21st edition. This time around, it will have a mixture of new bands bursting onto the scene and older acts returning to the stage that helped them get famous.

The [near] three month long music festival will tour around the country through cities such as Chicago, Dallas, San Diego, and many more. There will be over 75 acts playing during more than 40 dates this summer. Headlining the tour will be bands such as Falling in Reverse, Sleeping with Sirens, and Bullet for my Valentine. But, there is also the return of bands that have not appeared in the Warped tour for years. One of the notable one’s is the return of punk rock band Sum 41, or bands like New Found Glory, Good Charlotte, and Reel Big Fish. These bands were heard greatly in the early 2000’s and are hope to introduce themselves to a new generation of listeners and the tour.

At the heart of the Warped Tour, however, is discovering bands that you have yet to experience play. Due to the multitude of acts, one should consider broadening their horizons when searching what band to listen to next. Bands such as Knuckle Puck, Neck Deep, and State Champs might just be the sound you are looking to get into. Their appeal lies in their lyrics and sounds reminiscent of punk bands of yesteryear while also carving out their own uniqueness. This is just a few example of bands that you will get to experience on the Warped tour.
