Super year for Superhero movies

Manuel Solorzano, reporter

Superhero fanatics all over the world are going crazy for what 2016 has in store. Whether you’re a Marvel or DC fan; both companies have blockbuster movies slated until the end of the year. Familiar favorites and new faces to casual audiences will be shown. Moviegoers will be treated to 8 new superhero movies throughout 2016. From Marvel and DC to Sony and Fox, 5 major companies have planned release dates looming. The first being everyone’s favorite fourth-wall breaking anti-hero, Deadpool.

Deadpool is a character that comic book fans have waited years to be brought to the big screen. The foul mouthed, anti-hero, fourth wall breaking, incredibly immature, but yet still badass mercenary has longed awaited his titular role. The movie focuses on Deadpool, and ex military operative who due to experiments conducted on him, has become a mercenary who is on the hunt for the women he loved and the man who changed his life forever. His new powers, forced on him due to the experiment, have given him regenerative powers and adversely a a new sense of humor by taking the alter ego of Deadpool,When a man  is described as having the face of two older avocados who had a baby, and that’s putting it nicely, you know when  you watch this, movie you are in for a treat. Deadpool releases later this year on February 12, just in time for Valentine’s Day. There is no other movie which has action, violence, crude humor, and even romance, yes I said romance, all in one movie.

The following movies to release this year has been very hype for quite some time. But it is not without their merits. The first,  Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, is a movie crossover that fans though wouldn’t occur, but it has. As the title suggests, the movie is focused on the caped crusader himself, Bruce Wayne, as he comes face to face with Kal- El aka Superman and their first meeting in Metropolis. But they aren’t alone as other superheroes and villains are expected to pop up such as Wonder Woman and Lex Luger. The film has been built up as the ultimate clash between the two superhero favorites and many await the outcome of their ensuing battle.  Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice releases March 26. But, just a few months later, Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War releases. The third film in the Captain America series, sees our aforementioned Cap, in a battle against many of his Avenger brethren. The most important being, of course,  Iron Man. Due to differing views and Cap’s refusal to be governed by the US, a battle ensues between both parties which has the possibility of leaving the Avengers in shambles.  Captain America: Civil War debuts in theaters on May 6.

The following films for the year entail a mix match of characters, both old and new to the casual superhero audience which leaves many choices left. Between the end of May and the beginning of November,  a staggering 5 superhero films are set to be released. Films such as X-Men Apocalypse which sees X-Men both old and new reunite once more for another battle an immortal enemy, Apocalypse. But to counteract this, comes the Suicide Squad which is set to release in the summer and includes the aforementioned group with characters such as Deadshot, Harley Quinn, and the clown prince crime himself The Joker. This films seems to bring much more dark humor for moviegoers to enjoy. Finally, the last three films set to be released are Gambit, Doctor Strange, and Sinister Six. All three are seen by many as unknown to the masses but have the chance to surprise casual superhero fans with diversity in its characters. With release dates of fall 2016, there is no shortage of choices. But as my overview has shown, all year round, there is a bevy of Superhero movies to enjoy.
