Millions of children around the world live their life without even having a single pair of shoes. Well May 21, 2015 was declared a day to recognize this issue of children living without shoes on a daily basis. To contribute to the cause students and people have decided to walk this day barefoot and feel how it is to not have shoes on your feet. We need shoes to walk around and protect our feet from the ground but they aren’t necessary. However, in a third world country the ground may be far harsher than the one we walk on today. This means children and people are subject to foot injury and become vulnerable to the elements. Children especially need shoes to walk in because their body is still developing and growing.
This is a great way to show that you care about this situation and this definitely teaches you about the hardships children go through when they don’t have shoes to protect their feet. Some people may see this as a joke but when they realize the true meaning behind this you’ll definitely want to join in as well.
Even though you are walking in an environment you are use to walking in you still need to be cautious. These children may not have shoes but they learn to be more aware of their surroundings and the dangers on the ground. Your feet may get a little dirty but it’s all for a good cause. Every student at CHS should participate to show they care for the children who don’t or never had shoes on their feet. See what it feels like to walk in the shoes of those children and people who don’t have them by participating in this event every year.
