Serve up Colton High by working in the school’s cafeteria!

Want to go to school to learn and as well as make money during lunch time? Well a great option for students needing some extra money and keep their same normal schedule is working in the school’s cafeteria. Working in the cafeteria may seem hard to most people, but in reality the job is very easy. To get this job all you have to do is meet the requirements in the school’s job interview and once this is accomplished, you’ll be serving and handling food for the students of Colton High.

Working in the school’s cafeteria can have many benefits to it and recent cafeteria worker and Colton High student, Jackie Maldonado, says it was a great decision for her to have worked there. She worked approximately one hour and 30 minutes during her lunch sessions, and she says it was never a hard job to work. There are many students that work in the cafeteria during lunch and many of us don’t notice them. There are seven total students who work in the cafeteria and almost all of them are someone you know or have seen before around school. Most of the students that have received this job say it was a great decision to start working in the cafeteria. The student workers get paid minimum wage and though it might not seem like a lot, working an hour and a half each school day, the money really adds up in the end.

The school’s main requirement for apply students is for the student to simply “pass” the interview. The job interview is like any other interview you would get at a job outside of the school but the topics discussed involve school work and grades. Though many students apply to this job every school year, the job is only available to 11th and 12th graders.

Jackie Maldonado says that before she started working here, she actually thought the students made a lot of money. Once getting the job she came to realize this was somewhat true.

So what happens if you work two lunches? Do you get to have lunch or do you just skip your lunch? Well these student workers eat their lunch in between the two lunches. There is usually a gap of time between first and second lunch, and this gives the students the opportunity to eat their lunch.

Many of the other student cafeteria workers or “co-workers” that get this job are very friendly and easy to get along with. Maldonado being a sceptic of the good co-worker relationships in the cafeteria says that when she finally got the job, her co-workers were actually very friendly.

The job of a student cafeteria worker is very simply. The students handle the food and make sure students get their food when in line. Many students think this job would be kind of embarrassing, but in reality you see most of the friends you are comfortable with and with time you are able to work without feeling embarrassed.

Their job is easy and the money is good, so why wouldn’t you want to work in the school’s cafeteria? If you want to make some extra money and experience what it is like to have a fun respectable job, you should definitely check out jobs available to students in Colton High cafeteria.
