Mock Trial comes to a bittersweet end

Mock+Trial+comes+to+a+bittersweet+end+

Do you like to debate and investigate cases? Well there’s a class for that. Mock trial is a 6th period elective, advised by English teacher Lucy Leyva. The Mock Trial President is Junior Wendy Santameria and the Vice President is junior Carlos Bastida. Anyone can get into the class, there are no requirements–they’re thinking about holding tryouts like other schools that have this class. Mock Trial has been a class for three years but before being introduced as a class it was originally a club for a year. Mock Trial takes skill and intelligence but anyone can accomplish that with a great advisor such as Leyva.
“The hardest case was during the season which was People vs. Shem where one group had to defend the suspect, Evan Shem, of an art theft with the information given in a packet, ” Carlos says. Last year’s Colton Mock Trial won the first two rounds, the first two schools were beaten but two of the top schools in Redlands beat Colton by a .38% difference. The first semester is usually between October and December.

Bastida loves the family Mock Trial has gave him and compares them to other schools and realizes they have much more fun.Mock Trial helps you with public speaking it gets you out there usually it gives people an idea of becoming a lawyer and how court trials work with the laws.
