Colton High School’s French class is more interesting and helpful than you think. Not many people care about learning French and some even forget our school offers this language class. Whether you believe it or not this class more helpful than you think.

Vita Chimienti, the French teacher on the campus, is a very kind person and loves to teach this language. Chimienti says,“I have always loved languages and the sound of French.” Chimienti also believes that it is one of the most important languages in the world. French is also the second most used language in the world right behind English.

If you are trying to get in a university, after graduating high school, it can be very helpful to take this class because it is required to take two years of a foreign language while in high school. Learning the language can also be helpful with communicating with others while traveling to other countries and even getting jobs such as a translator, teacher, and many other professions. It could also help improve your English because 50 percent of the English language comes from French.

Cathy Velasco, a French student here at CHS, did not choose to be in this language class but after all these years of being in the class she says,“I am very happy I got into this class.” She also said,”It’s a hard language but it’s very interesting.” The language also makes Velasco want to learn about it’s beautiful culture. Being in this class helps you learn about the traditions, history, and daily life of the people in France.

If you are looking for a fun/unique class and want learn about the French language, you should look into the French class here on campus. You can talk to your councilor or the French teacher, Vita Chimienti, about getting into this class and learn how interesting and amazing this language can be.
