Wear the Pink to support Breast Cancer!

Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an annual campaign to increase awareness of the disease. Most people know about breast cancer but many forget to take a stand against it or have a plan to detect the disease while it’s in its early stage.

Breast cancer is when the cells of the breast form a group of cancer cells that can invade the surrounding tissue. Disease in which malignant cells form in the tissue of the breast.  This occurs when the cell growth goes wrong and the body begins to make new cells when the person doesn’t need them, causing a tumor to form. The damaged cells can invade the surrounding tissue or spread by traveling in the surrounding blood vessels or lymph vessels. Not only does it affect the tissue around it but the process can damage organs. One out of eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their life time. This cancer is the most commonly diagnosed type in women. Out of 220,000 estimated women diagnosed with breast cancer, more than 40,000 will die, leading it to be the second most lethal disease for women. For men breast cancer is rare but an estimate 2,150 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer every year and out of those men 410 men die each year.

According to the World Health Organization, breast cancer is the most common type of cancer among women worldwide. Hundreds of thousand of women lose their live to this disease. With early detection and treatment, most people can continue a normal life with this disease.

There are many ways you can help support those who have been affected by breast cancer. You can donate, get involved with family and friends to start or join fundraisers, or volunteer to help educate women about breast cancer. This disease can only be ended with the support of everyone, so take a stand against breast cancer.

Our Goal

Recently, the CHS Publications Department experienced a major theft as over $20,000 in photography equipment was stolen from our studio over Spring Break. This included all cameras. Any amount you donate will help rebuild our program. Thank you!
