With the Harry Potter movie series having ended in July of this year, and the second to last Twilight movie “Breaking Dawn Part 1” coming out November 18th, its safe to say that Harry Potter is by far the best book and movie series of the fantasy genre.

Never ending mystical adventures with our favorite trio of misfits is the better choice when deciding on what to watch or read rather than a girl who can’t decide which boy she is in love with.

Fantasy is supposed to allow you to delve into a world which is unlike any other, permitting you to surmount the impossible, so why would you want to focus on modern day problems like boy trouble?

Although Harry Potter does contain elements that normal teenagers may be concerned with, it goes beyond that, such as having magical abilities and being able to experience interaction with mystical creatures that are unknown to the common man.

Twilight limits the possibilities in living a fantastical life, especially when the main supernatural beings that are included are shape shifters, which can only turn into werewolves, and vampires, in which the craze over them has died down after being featured in many different books like Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles.

J. K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series has sold over 400 million books, and Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight saga has only sold a little over 100 million. It also appears that Twilight is directed towards a young adult female audience, rather than being created for a variety of people. Rowling most likely created Harry Potter, intending to draw in readers of different ages and genders to join in on the fun, why else would it be found in the children section of Barnes and Noble?
