Nathan Sykes: no boy band singer any longer

Alexis Ponce, Reporter

When he was a member of the U.K boy band the Wanted, Nathan Sykes got a phone call from his mother 10 minutes after tickets to one of their concerts went on sale. After checking their Twitter account, she got worried because she noticed fans saying how sad that they couldn’t get tickets. Nathan was surprised that he was able to sell his tickets in such a short period of time. He was unable to sell tickets that quickly with the Wanted.

Just being 16 years old in 2009, Sykes joined the British boy band who was best known for their Eurodance-tinged sound on their early singles “Glad You Came” and “Chasing the Sun.” Being slightly more wholesome One Direction, the Wanted became One Direction’s competitor.

In 2013 was when Sykes made his solo debut on a duet with then-girlfriend Ariana Grande called “Almost Is Never Enough”. Soon enough he found himself connecting with the Harmony Samuels. The track producer and cowriters who producer on Sykes as-yet untitled LP, due in January of next year. Sykes mother was music teacher, plays the saxophone, clarinet and flute and kept Sykes surrounded by big bands and swings.

While listening to his album I thought he was a really good singer and to be honest I wouldn’t mind listening to more of his music on the radio. Even though I’m really not a fan to common music I didn’t mind his music. I would recommend his album to more people and suggest others to listen to him.
