What can I say, she did it again.

This is not the first but the second time Beyonce had dropped a new album out of the blue. The first surprise release was a self titled album dropped in 2014 along with a platinum edition. This time around it is a visual album called Lemonade, rumored to be about her husband Jay-Z, who had apparently cheated on her.

The album includes many featured artists such as James Blank, the Weeknd, Jack White, and Kendrick Lamar. James Blank is featured on song called “Forward.” The Weeknd sings along side Beyonce with “6 inch.” Jack White lends country vibes to “Don’t Hurt Yourself.” Kendrick Lamar and Beyonce both harmonize about African Americans’ freedom with the song “Freedom.”

Her 12-song album is full of variety but some of her best songs are  “Hold Up,” “Pray You Catch Me,” “All Night,” and last but not least “Formation.”

Hold up” is probably the happiest sounding melody on the album. At the same time it’s true meaning is quite powerful. In this song Beyonce sounds like she is accepting the fact she is a scorned woman and is learning how to deal with it.

Pray You Catch Me” is the first track on the album. In this song we hear Beyonce harmonizing to a soft gentle beat. Even though the song is very gentle it is about a woman who knows her partner is up to something behind her back.

All Night” is a song in which Beyonce herself confesses to being a caring person who can offer so much more love.

Formation” is one of the first singles to be released. This song is a politically influenced song alongside “Freedom.” Even though these songs are melodies about equality Beyonce making this the last haarmony on the album gives her back the power of the black woman.
